We all know that power cables and optical cables are two different products. Many people don't know how to distinguish them. In fact, the difference between the two is very big.

GL has sorted out the main differences between the two for you to distinguish:

The inside of the two is different: the inside of the power cable is copper core wire; the inside of the optical cable is glass fiber.

Power Cable: When the phone converts the acoustic signal into an electrical signal and then transmits it to the switch via the line, the switch transmits the electrical signal directly to the other phone via the line for answering. The transmission line during this conversation is the cable. In the internal structure, the inside of the cable is copper core wire. The diameter of the core wire is also distinguished, there are 0.32mm, 0.4mm and 0.5mm. Generally speaking, the communication ability is proportional to the diameter; there are also divided according to the number of core wires, which are divided into 5 pairs, 10 pairs, 20 pairs, 50 pairs, 100 pairs, 200 pairs, etc.

Optical cable: When the phone converts the acoustic signal into an electrical signal and then transmits it to the switch via the line, the switch transmits the electrical signal to the photoelectric conversion device (converts the electrical signal into an optical signal) and transmits it to another photoelectric conversion device via the line ( Convert the optical signal into electrical signal), and then to the switching equipment, to the other phone to answer. Optical cables are used for the lines between two photoelectric conversion equipment. Unlike cables, optical cables have only the number of core wires. The number of core wires is 4, 6, 8, 12, and so on. Optical cable: It has the advantages of small size, weight, low cost, large communication capacity, and strong communication capability. Affected by many factors, optical cables are used for long-distance or point-to-point transmission.

After reading the above, we should have a number in mind. The differences between cables and optical cables are summarized as follows:
1: The material is different. Cables use metal materials (mostly copper, aluminum) as conductors; optical cables use glass fibers as conductors.
2: The scope of application is different. Cables are now mostly used for energy transmission and low-end data information transmission (such as telephone). Optical cables are mostly used for data transmission.
3: The transmission signal is also different. Optical cables transmit optical signals, while cables transmit electrical signals.

Now,we believe everyone has already understood the difference between power cables and optical cables, and everyone has a general understanding of the specific uses, which is also convenient for us to choose suitable products. If you need more information about our products, Welcome to contact us via our Email: [email protected].
